The photographs show the harbour bathed in moonlight of, and completely cover the large display windows. They will remain in place at the building until such a time as a commercial use for the premises is found. Vicky Barclay and Jemima Chillingworth are the artists behind the project, which was only able to proceed thanks to the enthusiasm of the property owners, Henry and Rose Hollins, and the generous support of the Banff and Buchan Arts Forum.
It is hoped that the Duff Street artwork will be the first of many projects to tackle the blight of boarded up shops in our community. The idea for the public art scheme came from local residents who participated in a photographic survey of the towns last year. They were asked to take a snap shot of the things they liked and disliked, and some 64% felt run-down properties and unsightly public places were blighting their community.
The Trust hopes to identify a property in Banff where another shop art project can be created, helping to reduce the negative impact of boarded up shops which can have such a negative impact on community and business confidence.

An empty building in the heart of Macduff has become a shop window for Banff and Macduff Community Trust’s first public art project in the town.
